What goes into a shoot?
Prices vary by scope of work and project. Here are some things to consider:
Determine how you will be using the images.
- Before, installation and progress documentation?
- Year-three or garden maturity shots for a portfolio to share with future clients, or to accompany a membership application?
- Square-formatted images for Instagram? [and the same images formatted for other social media?]
- A magazine spread profiling this garden? [Bonus – I can write the article, too!]
- Website worthy images for your Completed Projects page?
- Quarterly seasonal visits to build a portfolio of seasonally-specific plant combinations to show future clients what their garden can look like.
Arrange a scouting trip.
A preview visit is essential to get a sense of which elements of the garden are the focal points, where to set up the tripod to avoid background distractions, and to determine when the light will be the best.
Prepare a shot list
Make sure we cover all of the elements of the garden that you need, and ensure closeup, medium, and wide-views.
Styled vignettes and plant combinations tell the story of the garden with charming details.
Complete the styling
Coordinate with the maintenance crew to finalize pruning, watering, sweeping of patios, placement of chairs, final styling items, and removal of kids’ toys (i.e. arrange with the clients too!)
Day of Shoot
After consulting the weather-gods, I will travel before dawn to arrive at best light. Fortunately you won’t have to be there early too, unless you’re placing rain-sensitive cushions or throw blankets across furniture.
Alternatively, get that fire lit and the al-fresco dinner table set so we capture that late afternoon glow.
Image editing and delivery
I will deliver desired high-resolution images via an online gallery for direct download.
